Enter the Grid: Our Adrenaline-Fueled First Ride on TRON Lightcycle / Run
Since the news broke, TRON Lightcycle / Run has quickly become one of the most eagerly awaited attractions at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. The iconic TRON: Legacy film inspired this attraction and it will give guests an exciting ride on sleek futuristic motorcycles, with bright lights and unique effects.
We can now say we rode it—and we have some opinions. Is TRON now our top attraction in all of Disney World? Let’s look at the parts that make it up.

First Impressions: A High-Tech Masterpiece
Looking up at the skinny canopy of TRON LightCycle / Run in Tomorrowland is an impressive thing to do. When the blue and white light shines, the place feels so energetic that you’re sure you’ve walked into a different environment.
As soon as you join the digital line, you experience what it’s like to be in the Grid. When you get your Light cycle, the competition starts.
The Ride Experience: Fast, Smooth & Futuristic
You lean forward like a motorcycle rider to mount your Lightcycle and then once you take off? Its speed is blazing—0 to 60 mph happens very fast. Launching while driving under the canopy is both exciting and as smooth as you can imagine.
What We Loved:
- The first steps inside are extremely thrilling, just like Rock n Roller Coaster.
- Disney ride vehicles are different than anything you’ll find elsewhere.
- The decor and lights inside really wow people and this is especially true for fans of the movie.
- While a child needs to be at least 48″ tall to ride, this one is still quite exciting.
What Surprised Us:
- It’s very quick—just a few minutes from one end to the other.
- Sometime this posture can make some riders feel a bit uneasy.
- The rides aren’t high-adrenaline; instead, they are about going fast and looking cool.
Virtual Queue & Lightning Lane: What You Need to Know
You can’t just walk up and ride TRON—at least not yet.
- You can order through the My Disney Experience app at 7 AM and 1 PM each day. It takes just a couple of seconds to fill, so get prepared!
- You can buy into the Lightning Lane for each member of your party—the price is normally between $20–$25 per person.
Tips: If it’s a busy time and you have the time, use both options for a higher chance of getting access to rides.
So… Is It Our New Favorite Ride?
Honestly? It might be. Here’s our personal ride ranking after this trip:

Final Verdict: Must-Ride Status Achieved
Make sure TRON Lightcycle / Run is your first choice if you’re at Magic Kingdom. It’s more than just a ride; it unites speed, looks and excitement for fans.
